A domestic energy assessor records the property information needed to produce an Energy Performance Certificate. The assessment focuses on the dwelling’s fixed energy-related characteristics rather than the current household’s personal energy use.
The exact visit depends on the property, but relevant information can include dimensions, construction, insulation evidence, glazing, heating, heating controls, hot-water systems, fixed lighting and applicable renewable technologies. The assessor may take photographs and notes as evidence for the assessment and accreditation process.
Provide safe access to the heating system, controls, hot-water cylinder where present, loft hatch and other relevant areas. Keep documents available for insulation, extensions, replacement glazing, heating upgrades or other work that may not be fully visible.
